We started off early, approx7 am in hopes of beating the heat.

Not so much. When we were trying to sign in there was no identification, no number or name, on the gate as to what the name was of the accommodation was. Bob managed to contact the woman to let us in.

A number of or name tag would have been nice!

But I digress.

We left early and hopes to stop at a cafe for some breakfast. 10 km later no cafe.

We plugged along and found a Google listing, a cafeteria called CAFETERIA on “The village”. Lovely and clean I ordered a bagel and cream cheese. No bagels this morning they haven’t come in yet, was the response.

okay, how about a croissant?

No not in yet.

What do you have?

Breakfast sandwich? Donuts!

Donut it is. And it was delish , sweet and Bready with thick vanilla icing on it.

Bob order a breakfast sandwich, bacon, egg, lettuce and tomato (no lettuce please) on an home made bun and a coffee. It arrived with lettuce but got eaten.

I had tea.

Our next stop was to get a phone SIM card installed. Huacas has a Kolbi phone provider, it was recommended to us, and we wanted to get it set up.

1 hour later, many phone calls, and discussions including the agent at Kolbi calling through land lines with our phones in front of him, we got our phones working. It wasn’t easy. You start with a Spanish speaking agent then it gets handed over to an English speaking agent, then, a passport number and lots of hoops to get a phone SIM to work.

We got back on the road to arrive at Villareal. The main hwy 152 and it was busy. Trucks, motorcycles, 4X4 and tour buses all going hither and thither.

We managed to find a quiet side road that basically followed our route and we felt safer. We saw another man peering behind his truck. This time I passed without ringing my bell!

we’ve arrived safely at our accommodation. Antema Loge run by a couple from Montreal. A beautiful spot with private cabanas and a salt water pool too cool off in.

Not sure where we are off to tomorrow but I will let you know.
