Another day in the books for us. After a disappointing day yesterday today was a success.

After a filling breakfast of omelette and fresh fruit, we left coco beach in good time before it got too hot and followed the roadway rather than the shortcut we tried to do yesterday.

There was little traffic and a car was being pulled by a rope by another car and they stopped. 1 guy got out of the car being towed and started taking a pre along the road! I rang my bell at him as we passed.

We did our first water crossing.

e we crossed the same river twice. This is called the Congo Trail.

just up to our panniers. my feet got soaked as we waded through the first crossing. We enjoyed watching the drivers push the water along with their cars. You could tell the local drivers who had crossed before because the path they took was through the shallowest part. Vacationers, however, went straight through the middle and went through the deep part.

then it was up…

up…

up…

so hot, so steep, and so hot.

I walked most of the steep hills and it is a pain pushing a fully loaded bike up a steep hill.

The bonus is the last 4km was down hill to the beach. It was steel and my brakes were singing.

We arrived safely and went to order a coffee and the manager said that the power just went out. So no coffee. I ordered an orange juice and Bob, just as he sat down the power came on, had a coffee.

Looking forward to another day tomorrow.

We are starting to get our “sea legs” back and adapting to the weather.
