Our day started off with a lovely filling breakfast of papaya smoothie, fresh fruit and eggs and toast for Bob. I opted for the beans and rice and toast. Very good and excellent fuel for the road.

Bob tried to put salt on his eggs and then took the salt shaker apart to take some salt out. It is so humid the salt is one big lump!

The day was slightly overcast which we are considering that to be “ a good thing”.

Initially we were concerned about the rain we saw in the forecast but we see now that it is mostly afternoon or evening showers.

We continued on our way and landed at our first true River crossing.

We met up with a cyclist, from Nanaimo, who was returning to Samara and he helped guide us through the River crossing. He waited for us at the crossing to show us how he crossed.

While there, we saw 3 cars turn back and there was a couple from BC, Vancouver, who were contemplating the crossing. They turned back when they saw that Bob reached his crotch with a Swift current. They were concerned that their vehicle would conk-out mid stream so they turned back for the extra 5 km and the up hill route around to Samara.

We didn’t want to back track and felt safe in our crossing.

when we travel along this is the things that catches Bob’s eyes

A power pole hanging in mid air. As if it were put there on purpose 4 feet to short.

And here is something that catches my eye.

The scenery is beautiful and green and the roadway is solid packed gravel. There was some rain which helped keep the dust down.

We arrived in Samara and have settled into our accommodations and Bob has picked up our nightly meal. Tonight:

- chicken in salsa ( tomato sauce),

- beans and rice (surprise)

- squash, zucchini sautéed fried medley

- cucumber, cabbage , tomato salad

so good

Just about time to hit the hay to see what tomorrow will bring.
