We started out in good spirits up early, all packed, and ready to go.

But things went sideways. The lovely shaded roadway became a gravel road, about the width of a driveway, then slowly became more narrow until we were on a single track path.

Not that bad and we continued on for a long as we could, then the path became washed away leaving loose rocks and deep rutted washouts.

Not to mention the 20% slope.

i rested walked 20 steps, pushing my bike, then rested in the shade then walked another 20 steps.

Bob dropped his bike then walked on ahead to see what we were in for. we both pushed 1 bike up, rested, walked and rested until it seemed it was plain and simply not worth it.

We abandoned our efforts and headed back to Coco Beach.

Yes we feel somewhat defeated but think it was the safe thing to do.

We will try a different, more well travelled route, rather than this short cut, tomorrow.

Bonus is that we are starting in Beautiful hotel with a cool clear swimming pool.

AND SOMEONE left some beer in the fridge!
