This, for me, was the best ride so far along the Eurovelo 8. Quiet roads, almond groves and orchards of Carob trees dotting the landscape.
there were several times when I saw these trees and wondered what they were.
Some had dark brown bean pods seemingly rotting on the branches.
Inused an app called SEEK and took a picture of the leaves and it identified it as Carob Bean.

I scrounged around and grabbed a bean pod and snapped it open.
no mistaking the smell of carob.
the almonds were the same. The almond groves seemed to have grown past their prime and the almonds were hanging black and moody from the branches.
In an effort to distribute water, a giant aqueduct was built.

Built in the 1950s to supply water to neighboring towns, it is now defunct and and stands as a reminder of the importance of water in our lives!
A day in Cartagena
Apparently Cartagena was one of the most important ROMAN town in Spain.
We spent the day visiting Roman ruins and even a Roman Ampitheatre large enough to hold 7000people.
It’s amazing to think that some of the Fresco art, the sculptures and the roads are 2000 yrs old.

Roman theatre.
It’s Just a Slow Leak.
during our day off Bob fixed his bike. His back tire seemed to have developed a slow leak. So he did the minor repair and all is well.
