Tough day

made it to Ontinyent just as the sun was setting!

After a few weeks of riding along the Mediterranean we decided to move inland to visit a different part of Spain.

Rather than seeing yet another development along the Costa del Sol we weaved our way through farms and olive groves. A lot of the looked like they succumbed to drought but some looked well kept and viable.

The downside of this is there are hills. when you rode along the coast you’re mostly flat along the beach,

However,

when you go inland there are many hills to climb!

We had one such day today. Right out of Alicante, climb up, up, up.

For 20 km we climbed!

I was doing the mental math. We’re going 6km/hour and (i look down at my odometer) ohhkaaay we have 60km to go, we’ll be 10 hours.

Then we hit a down hill stretch, we’re going 25kph and we have 50km so,

on it goes.

The last 10km was total down hill and we were flying because the sun was dipping quickly behind the mountains.

Flying 30kph and 6 km to go.

We made it.

Lovely apartment

however i would like to have had some time to take some pictures of the beautiful landscape.
