It was a short but up hill ride with 3 saddles to contend with. There were steep and long.

I managed the first 2 but walked The last one.

We arrived safely and into the youth hostel.

Did you know that the YHA gives cyclists an eco-discount.

Because we arrived early and it was a lovely day we decided to unload our bags and ride the short distance, 10km, to see Fox Glacier.

Unfortunately, it wasn't too be.

While heading out of town I was struck by a passing motorist.

It was more of a glancing blow but it sure scared the crap out of me.

The mirror of the campervan hit me square in my right shoulder.

It pushed me off the road and off my bike but I'm fine.

We called police and made a report. The driver of the campervan was very apologetic. From Buenos Aires. They were very excited to see my Argentinian flag decal on my bike.

The police came to the hostel thatevening which caused a great stir with the residents and other cyclists were wide eyed as they eaves dropped on the statement.

The Constable was adamant about giving them a formal warning and maybe even charging them.

This put us off getting to the glacier.

After a hot water bottle, some ibuprofen and a visit to the clinic we continued on our way the next day. I was a little sore but good to go.
