We’ve spent the last 2days riding along the coast of the Mediterranean. Almost to the point of being tired of the view and the sound of the surf.
Almost!
Board walks, cobbled walks, concrete, tiled and sand walks all along the Mediterranean. Through posh resorts, right down to the beach.
We started by riding along a MAJOR hwy the A7 and at lunch break we wheeled in to have a bite at an off the road parking lot.
we saw many cyclists coming and going off the path and down to the beach.
I went and asked someone, luckily he spoke French, and I got to practice my français. anyway he said you can travel all the way to the next town on the board walk.
we road on the boardwalk, through several resorts and through back yards (following other “local” cyclists) through mysterious paths and along crowded commercial resort restaurants.
it seemed all good.
then the path ended, abruptly. Right into the beach!
so off and back to the highway we went.
we did ride on a tiny path adjacent to the hwy, dodging trees, lamp posts and guard rail. It slowed us down a bit but we felt safe behind the barrier.

You can see the little path beside the highway.
we have started a bit of a routine ride our bikes and when we stop for lunch we look in the next town for accommodations. So far it’s been working.
we looked today at around 4pm when we wanted to stop. And found a lovely place in Sitio de Calahonda.

When we arrived at the accommodation this is what we saw on the gate.

“Please close the gates to prevent the wild boars from getting in.”
Not sure what we are getting into there. We didn’t see any, unfortunately.
We are hoping to get on a few 2ndary highways soon to be able to get some good pedalling in.
