After a days rest we got on our bikes and made it to Alzira in record time. We followed bicycle tracks and secondary roads through many acres of oranges, mandarins, lemons, kumkwats, and pomegranates.

Travelling through this region we got to experience more of the local flavour rather than the touristic coast.

We went through Xátiva where we read about the Spanish Civil War 1936 and the train station there was bombed by 5 Italian bombers. The train line is now a beautiful cycling and walking trail.

There were still plenty of hills.

and castles dotting the highest peaks,

Xativa castle. And in to the walled city

We are continuing on our journey.

We are both well and heading out to Valencia.
