I call them the work horse of the cycling world.

Unlike the ultra lite carbon frame of the road racing bikes these beauties are steel frame and can take a beating.

And hold all our gear.

Before they can get on the plane they are broken down, and put into boxes

We sourced our boxes from the local bike store, Banks Bikes. Apparently they had recently gotten in a shipment of bikes and were happy to give away a couple of boxes.

The boxes are the perfect size. They meet the airline maximum size for bikes . We recently found out that EACH air line has a size requirement that you can not exceed.

So many inches. when measuring along each side of the box. It has to be under 72 inches.

Now we learn that the Germany airline, because we fly into Frankfurt, has a smaller maximum size. We had to re-jigger the box.

Resize it.

Cut it down.

Tape it.

Not a big deal, just a pain!
