We were unable to get accommodations in Tambor so we opted for a one night in a lovely accommodation near Tambor. A small cross roads called Florida.

With the hot weather and the holiday season arriving soon, we were happy to be able to find this place.

it was lovely and clean and had an excellent kitchenette and bathroom. There was a hot water heater right on the shower head. As we get further off the beaten path, things like clean, are important. We’ve read many reviews that say, there were dust balls and cockroaches. We’ve seen none of that but we’ve been vigilant with our research.

Finding the actual place is a challenge. The streets have no names and houses have no identifying numbers. So when you are cycling along you match up the pictures in the advert to the house you see in front of you. It would be nice if there was a sign. Some sort of indication that this is the house. Even an open gate.

When we arrived the gate was closed. We have learned that a closed gate just means it’s meant to be opened. Bob slid the steel gate on the steel track and there was a children’s birthday party happening in the smallish pool. Undeterred the part go-ers continued to screech and throw water at each other.

I’m guessing 20 children and then the adults. Balloons, decorations, barbecue ( I mean a wood fire smouldering hot dog), and of course music. Loads of stuff and loud, thumping music.

We unpacked our bikes and lugged it up the steps to the upstairs apartment.

The party and music continued. with the occasional outburst and laughing or scolding in Spanish of course.

We relaxed. We were happy to click on the air conditioning and breathe.

Bob made a scrumptious dinner of bacon, beans, rice carrots and cucumber. The bacon was purchased in Cobano and I wrapped it in my vest with my frozen water bottle. Carrots are amazing. Tasty and sweet.

Because we had planned an early start we tucked ourselves into bed and hoped for a quiet sleep.

At around 9.30 cue barking dog.

after approx. one hour of consistent 1 bark per second Bob messages the host and said there was a barking dog. She responded immediately and the dog barking was solved.

Next up.

The bar 2 doors away.

It was karaoke night. Loud off key singing and seizure producing flashing lights went on until midnight. Then…

it was peaceful.

We had a good sleep.
